Object Description
A three color woodcut. In the foreground a large red triangle is the main focus of the work. In the center of the triangle, a round “window” reveals a blue seascape that also surrounds the triangle. The sea scape uses stylized lines that get closer together as they approach the middle ground where sail boats help define the horizon line, above which the stylized lines continue to form the sky which seems to mirror the water with the lines getting further apart as they approach the top of the work. The sky is broken up with the black stylized “The New York Times” logo. At the bottom PL of the work in pencil is “to Hiram – Derek”
