Narrow base, 12 feet high, rises to support circle with diameter of 6 feet. Circle has evenly spaced lateral sections around center hole, windmill-like appearance. Work is fashioned from two pieces of granite. According to object file records, Moroles sent a note requesting the title be changed from "Sun Symbol" to "Windmill"
After inquiring about reproduction rights for 1985.023, I recived an email (see object file) from Lyn Harp with Moroles, Inc. stating that the correct name for the piece was not as we had noted “Sun Symbol” but rather "Granite Sun". After referencing both the object and artist files, a notation was found changing the name to "Granite Windmill". However, upon looking at Moroles’ 2004 publication "Moroles: Granite Sculptures" in which 1985.023 is listed as "Granite Sun", it was decided to change the name in the official records.
