Object Description
Famous fight between Inukai Kenpachi Nobumichi and Inuzuka Shinao on the roof of Horyukaku, a tower of Koga Castle. This scene illustrates a popular episode from the Edo era novel "Tale of the Eight Dog Warriors of Satomi," written by Kyokutei Bakin. Here, Inukai Kenpachi Nobumichi is shown in the midst of the battle atop the building, fighting with a metal truncheon. He lunges forward with eyes blazing, sending a flock of birds scattering as he throws his hand up in the air. He scowls fiercely, his flowing hair tied back with a sash, bare feet spread firmly across the tiled roof. A policeman has tumbled backwards onto the tiles before him, still gripping his weapon.
