Retitled 8/15/90: Meleager Kills the Boar For the illustrations in this book, Picasso developed a style of pure contours and discreet eroticism--classical forms without ex- cess, even in scenes of violence. Between Sept. 18 and Oct. 25, he made 27 large etchings, of which 15 were retained, one for each of the 15 books comprising the whole. This is one of the rare times that Picasso illustrated a book with close attention to the text.
